...Certified dealers must meet professional standards and adhere to a "Boaters' Bill of Rights."... The program has been in place for about a year now, it's building steam, and there is research to indicate consumers are benefiting...Certification represents a much-needed first move in solving some of the problems -- but the proof will be whether the improvements are real and long lasting. Early results are promising. According to the National Marine Manufacturers Association's (NMMA) Customer Satisfaction Index program, consumers who bought new boats from certified dealers in 2006 rated their "Overall Satisfaction with Dealer" at 93.7 percent -- a 7.1 percent improvement over the 86.6 percent rating given to noncertified dealers...Obviously, certification is having a positive impact...


Seven Manufacturers Are Added To List Of NMMA Certified

Miami Show Reports Strong Sales Despite Low Attendance

The show, held Feb. 15 to 19 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center and Miamarina at Bayside, drew 137,175 attendees this year, down 6 percent from 146,595 visitors last year. The show is produced by the National Marine Manufacturers Association. "While we're disappointed in the drop in attendance, we're very pleased to report strong sales among our exhibitors, which point to an optimistic season ahead for boat manufacturers and dealers," Cathy Johnston, vice president of Southern shows for the NMMA. "While many exhibitors noted a decrease in the number of Northeastern buyers from prior shows, they benefited from the quality of visitors that were eager to buy."...

Strictly Sail Chicago Docks At Navy Pier
