Dealer Agreement Interview With NMMA's Thom Dammrich

Boating Industry magazine caught up with National Marine Manufacturers Association President Thom Dammrich while he was overseas on a business trip to quickly discuss the state of dealer-manufacturer agreements, in regard to the legislation being debated in the state of Michigan. Do you know how many NMMA boat builders are using the proposed language that came out of the task force? Thom Dammrich: I don't know off hand, but I suspect that it's probably most of the boat manufacturers division board. And there are 24 people on the manufacturers board that represent a lot more brands than that. If I were to take a wild guess, I'd say somewhere between 30 and 50 brands are using it...


NMMA To Form Water Access Partnership

The National Marine Manufacturers Association is about to take a big step forward in the battle to protect and expand water access. During the 2006 International BoatBuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), which kicks off tomorrow at the Miami Convention Center, NMMA will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Forest Service in an effort "to increase boating access on public lands and promote aquatic conservation and stewardship," it reported in a statement yesterday...

Boat Show Displays Exciting New Models

...The 47th Fort Lauderdale Boat Show kicked off Thursday with hundreds of exhibitors from around the world, including big names from Manatee County. "This show is extremely important for the boating industry," said Thomas Dammrich, executive director of the National Marine Manufacturers Association. "Generally, most dealers get 40 to 60 percent of their annual sales from boat shows, either from direct sales or leads they gather at the shows."...Dammrich, of the National Marine Manufacturers Association, called the show a "bellwether." "If people have a good Fort Lauderdale show, they will expect to have a good season going through the winter boat season," Dammrich said.
