NMMA Shares Ad Campaign With Other Show Producers

For the first time, boat show producers who are not affiliated with the National Marine Manufacturers Association can get a sneak preview of the ads produced by the NMMA. "The campaign for our 2007 show season features some of the best-produced creative to come out of NMMA," says Carl Blackwell, NMMA vice president of marketing and communications. "We're very proud of how the campaign turned out and echo the Executive Committee's belief that by producing top-quality advertising, we'll help draw top-quality attendees -- which is why the committee also decided to make these available to other boat show producers."...


Sweeney Boating Bill May Sink

U.S. Rep. John Sweeney's loss Tuesday to Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand will almost certainly doom a bill that became a political liability for him. In May, the Republican from Clifton Park introduced a measure that would give tax breaks to boat manufacturers that provide high-end, easy- to-wear life vests and emergency radio beacons to consumers for free. The bill was crafted with help from the National Marine Manufacturers Association...Monita Fontaine, vice president of government relations for the marine manufacturers association, said in a statement: "We look forward to working with the new Congress on issues important to promoting a strong U.S. manufacturing base, expanding trade opportunities, promoting job growth and safety initiatives for the boating public."

One Year Later, 121 Dealers Certified

Ten more boat dealerships recently became certified under the Grow Boating Initiative's Marine Industry Dealership Certification program, Grow Boating reported in a recent statement..."November marks the official one-year anniversary of the Marine Industry Dealership Certification program, and in just 12 months time the program's managed to bring an impressive number of dealerships -- 400 of them -- into the certification program," said Phil Keeter, president of the Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA). "Earning certified status not only demonstrates a dealership's commitment to improving customer satisfaction, but it comes with additional benefits including free listings on the GrowBoating.org and DiscoverBoating.com websites, promotional materials and direct access to consumer prospects generated through the Discover Boating campaign."...


Attendance Up At NMMA Boat Shows

Attendance at the National Marine Manufacturers Association's (NMMA) 2006 consumer boat shows was up 7 percent over the previous year's figures, it reported in a recent statement..."Exhibitors from our 2006 winter season frequently commented on the high quality buying crowds and the fact they were not only seeing new faces but selling to these new people as well," said Ben Wold, NMMA executive vice president..."One plan is to send every hot prospect generated through DiscoverBoating.com two free tickets to the upcoming boat show in their area. That's somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 people who will receive tickets," he explained...
