Growing Boating Comes With Bill Of Rights

The latest campaign in the boating world is "Grow Boating." We consumers rarely see or hear about it. The trade magazines mainly use it to rally boat builders and dealers as a way to certify them, and, of course, increase sales...With this in mind, I decided to check out the "Grow Boating" Web page to educate myself. First there is the initiative. "An industry-wide integrated approach to improve the boating experience."...What I found most interesting about the site was the page "Consumer Bill of Rights."...

Florida Is No. 1 For Boats

...For only the second time -- and for the second year in a row -- Florida had more registered boats in 2005 than any other U.S. state, according to a report released Wednesday. Florida had 973, 859 registered boats, followed by California (963,758), Michigan (944,138), Minnesota (853,489) and Wisconsin (639,198). The top five boating states accounted for nearly one third of all U.S. boat registrations, which grew 1.3 percent to 12.9 million, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association...

Great Lakes State Big For Boating

...Among the country's top boat shows are the New York National Boat Show, Dec. 30-Jan. 7 at the Javits Center; the Chicago Boat, RV and Outdoor Show, Jan. 17-21 at McCormick Place, and the Miami International Boat Show, Feb. 15-19 at the Miami Beach Convention Center...Discover Boating, a national consumer awareness program for the recreational boating industry, surveyed boat registrations and found that while Florida is the top boating state for the second year in a row with nearly 974,000 registered boats, followed by California, the next three were Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Those five states accounted for nearly a third of all boat registrations...

Strictly Sail Shows Expected To Draw Thousands

Strictly Sail shows are returning to Philadelphia, Chicago and Miami early next year. Strictly Sail runs in Philadelphia from Jan. 18-21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center...More than 20,000 sailors are expected to come out for Strictly Sail Chicago -- the largest indoor, all-sail show in the nation.
