The forerunner to Competitive Insights was formed in January 1999 to provide a unique competitive intelligence and strategic media analysis service to companies fighting to differentiate their brands and capture the attention of their customers through the media.

The goal was to move far beyond providing mere measurement-oriented reports to offer strategic analysis and consulting to help clients target their communications programs.

This approach by Competitive Intelligence Services of Zeno Group, a global public relations firm, was so successful that it spurred the creation of Competitive Insights as a stand-alone business unit in July 2002.

With its proprietary competitive analysis methodology and ability to leverage new information technology, Competitive Insights is the world's first strategic competitive media analysis and intelligence firm. Today, Competitive Insights identifies strategic communications opportunities for some of the world's largest companies and fastest-growing brands.
